Kalamazoo, Michigan Geraldine Gerry, 75, passed away Saturday morning, February 13, 2010. Gerry was born on August 4, 1934 to Laurence and Eloise Phillips Mitchell of Kalamazoo, Michigan. A lifetime resident of Kalamazoo, Gerry worked in nursing for many years and her hobbies included cooking and attending concerts. Gerry is survived by her four children; Roberta Collins-Angba, Aprilynn Word, Ellen Spencer, and Edwin Collins; and son-in-law Calvin Spencer, all of Kalamazoo. She is further survived by her beloved grandchildren; Khari, Kemba, Cheia, Khalilah, Roy, Bobby, Tuzhi, Angbashum; and great-grandchild, Lynneisha; her sister, Joyce Pettiford; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Cossia, and husband, Ervin Collins. In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated and a private homegoing celebration will be held in her honor for close family and friends.
