JUNE, Gerald A. ?Jerry? Portage Died June 18, 2007 at his home, surrounded by his loving family in the house he designed and built himself 50 years ago. Jerry was born on June 24, 1932 in Dodge County, WI, the son of Arthur and Charlotte Hacht June. He moved to Michigan at 3 years of age, graduated from Portage Central High School in 1950, attended WMU and graduated with a degree in tool and die making. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at National Waterlift. Jerry?s hobbies were gardening, golfing, fishing and working in his orchid greenhouse. He was a member of the Orchid Society. Jerry and Maxine are members of St. Michael Lutheran Church and together they have provided flowers for the church for the past 43 years. On July 4, 1952, on a 3 day pass from the Air Force, Jerry was united in marriage to the former Maxine Kohlhoff, by the Rev. Louis Grother, who was pastoring the Zion Lutheran Church on Pine St. in Kalamazoo and who will be officiating at Jerry?s funeral service. Surviving are his wife Maxine of Portage; a brother James and wife Pam June and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held at 11:00 o?clock Thursday at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 7211 Oakland Dr. with Pastor Louis Grother officiating. A luncheon will be held immediately after the funeral service at the church. Interment will be at 2:00 pm at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery with military honors by the Comstock V.F.W. and the U.S. Air Force. Friends may meet the family on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. and from 10 ? 11:00 on Thursday at the church. The family suggests that you simply bring fresh flowers from your garden to place in vases that will be provided at the funeral home and the church. Memorial contributions in Jerry?s memory may be made to St. Michael Lutheran Church, Hospice Care of S.W. Michigan or the S.P.C.A. of S.W. Michigan.
