Grandma Clay's Favorite Passed away January 14, 2011 at home. He was born June 22, 1942 in Battle Creek, MI to Woodrow and Betty Clay Carlisle. Jerry was married to Sharon Hutchins on July 17, 1987, who survives. He was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast and he coached Little League. Also surviving Jerry are his children, Thom Kelly Carlisle of Portage and their children, Sam and Josie, Donn Kristin Carlisle of Savannah, GA and their children, Matthew "Wahoo" and Virginia "Gigi", Jon Laura Carlisle of Savannah, GA, Krista Ziegler of Portage, MI and Shannon James Cook of Kalamazoo and their children, Ryan, Christopher and J.T.; his mother, Betty Bower; sister, Janet Glenn Burmeister; mother-in-law, Eva Don Trader; mother of his sons, Dottie Carlisle; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful friend, Sullivan "Sulley", his Golden Retriever. Preceding Jerry in death was his father. Family will greet friends on Saturday, January 22nd from 2:30-3:30 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave., where a memorial service will take place at 3:30. Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission or to the Kalamazoo Humane Society.
