SHELDON, George Sr.
Of Kalamazoo, MI George passed away August 12, 2009 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, FL. He was born January 21, 1947 in Frankfort, MI, the son of Fay Edward and Jeanette McConnell Sheldon. George was employed by George Pacific for 36 years until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and bowling. He was always involved in the sports activities of his children and coached many little league and football teams over the years. Surviving are his best friend and companion, Juanita Burgett of Kalamazoo; 3 children, Tammy Sheldon, Debbie Rick Skelton-Sheldon, and George Jr. Rebecca Sheldon all of Kalamazoo; 6 grandchildren, Jason, Katie, Brandie, Kyler, Scottie, and Reece; 1 great-grandson, Connor; his mother, Jeanette Sheldon; 3 sisters, Vivian Danny Emmons of Scotts, Barbara Jurrick of Chattanooga, TN, and Tina Sheldon of Palm Harbor, FL; former spouse, Patricia McClellan; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his father and brother, Richard Sheldon. Funeral services for George will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 PM on Monday tomorrow at the funeral home. Interment will be on Wednesday in Champion Hill Cemetery, Honor, MI. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to assist in funeral expenses.
