MERRILL, George E.
Of Kalamazoo Passed away Monday morning, January 28, 2008. George was born June 15, 1922 in Decatur, MI the son of Harry and Irene Powers Merrill. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a lifetime member of the Comstock VFW Post 6252. Prior to his retirement in 1984 he was employed with Allied Paper for 25 years. George also enjoyed woodworking and traveling around the country. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Holly Beth; and a son Michael. On December 30, 1948 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, the former Betty Lewnfield who survives. Also surviving are 7 children, Kathy Copeland, Julia James Reslock, Kim Merrill, Lyn Richard Johnson, Christine Steve Menzies, Melissa Rich Weston, Denise Jim Green; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Robert Merrill, William Audrey Merrill, Russell Merrill, Barbara John Harrison, Shirley Bill Himes, Geraldine Herb Payne; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held Monday, February 4 from 1 to 4pm at the Comstock VFW Post 6252, 5990 E. Michigan. Private family interment will be in Ft.
