Of Kalamazoo Passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, August 8, 2014 at the age of 73. George was born in Lynchburg, West Virginia on April 20, 1941, the son of the late Victor and Eula Gieger Horton. He retired from H.B. Fuller Company after 22 years of service. He belonged to the Portage Eagles Club and the Portage Moose Lodge. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed golfing and bowling. He loved camping, hunting and fishing with his two sons. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Elaine A. Coy Horton; two sons, Mark Janeen Horton and Chad Danielle Horton; three grandsons, Gage, Kamron and Owen; one brother, Robert Judy Horton of Vacaville, CA; one sister-in-law, Alice Horton of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by one son, Victor Horton; two brothers and one sister, David Horton, "Ed" Marshall Horton and Betty Bresett. Friends may visit with the family from 2 - 4 p.m. & 6 - 8 p.m. on Monday, August 11, 2014 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Avenue, Portage, MI 49002, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2014. Scott Burdick will officiate with interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross or SPCA of Southwest Michigan.
