GUNDERSON, George Gene Of Kalamazoo Passed away Saturday evening, January 20, 2007 at his residence. George was born on September 12, 1921 in Whitehall, MI. He was the only child of George Gunard Gunderson and Signa Walgren Gunderson who preceded him in death. On August 26, 1950 he was united in marriage to Josefina L. Gunderson who survives. George served in the U.S. Navy aboard the minesweeper US Inaugural in the Pacific theater during World War II. He graduated from Western Michigan University and received a Masters Degree from the University of Michigan. He taught at Lawrence High School for two years and retired from the Upjohn Company after 33 years of service. He was an avid reader and golfer. George was a member of Gull Lake Country for 27 years and had been a member of Kalamazoo Country since 1994. A memorial service to celebrate George?s life will be held 3:00 o?clock Wednesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick with Rev. Jim Dyke officiating. Private interment of cremains will be in Oakhurst Cemetery in Whitehall, MI. Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to the Kalamazoo Humane Society, 4239 S. Westnedge, Kalamazoo, MI 49008.
