George Ebinger, 76, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019. He was born September 15, 1942 in Battle Creek, MI to the late Donald and Bethel (Pierce) Ebinger. George was united in marriage to Kathleen Syfert on June 24, 1967, who preceded him in death in September of 2001. He later was united in marriage to Diana Haggard on August 20, 2005. George was a lifelong member of Climax United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era until honorably discharged. George retired from the Kellogg Company after 35-plus years of service. Subsequent to his retirement, he consulted for other food production companies for many years. George's passions included trains, model-railroading, gardening, jigsaw puzzles and carpentry. George was a do-it-yourself man. One of his biggest projects was the purchase of the old Climax depot. He totally dissembled the building and repurposed every aspect of the depot in the building of his home. George is survived by his wife, Diana Ebinger; daughters, Stephani Ebinger and Christina (Mike Whalen) Ebinger; grandsons, Austin Ebinger and Casey Whalen; and sister, Marian (Robert) Jaeschke. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" Ebinger. The family will greet friends on Thursday, February 7th from 6-8 pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 East Maple St. A memorial service will take place Friday, February 8th at 11 am at the Climax United Methodist Church, 133 East Maple St., Climax, MI 49034. A private interment will take place at a later date at Prairie Home Cemetery in Climax. Memorial donations may be directed to the church.
