DUNCAN, Trooper George A.
of Kalamazoo, Michigan George died Wednesday June 13, 2012. He was born on January 20, 1968 in Detroit. In 1980, George's family moved to Grayling, where he graduated with honors from Grayling High School. He was a great athlete during his high school years and loved to play baseball. He attended Michigan State University and then served with the United States Coast Guard from 1988 to 1993. He graduated from Michigan State Police Motor Carrier School in 1994 and was assigned to the New Buffalo and Bridgman posts. He graduated from the 116th Michigan State Police Trooper Recruit School in 1998 and was assigned to the South Haven Post. He transferred to the Wayland post in 2008 where he worked out of the Saugatuck and Plainwell detachments. George loved being a part of and helping coach both his son's baseball teams. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bike riding and any time he could spend with his boys. Surviving are his parents Gary and Karen Willoughby of Grayling; sister, Heather Tinker of Maine; sons, Tyler of Stevensville and Parker of Mattawan, both of which he loved very much; aunt, Beverly Bladen; cousins, Jackie and Jeanne; and families all of Oregon. Funeral services for George will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed a fund designated to his children.
