Kalamazoo George passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the age of 74. He was born February 8, 1941 to the late George F. and Lillian LaValley Blades. George was united in marriage to Sally Clark on June 19, 1976, she preceded him in death on March 2, 2004. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus and ushered at St. Mary Catholic Church for years. George is survived by his children, Jim Ames, Steve Leona Ames, Terry Ames, Julie Smith, Gerald Diane Blades, Michael Kimmi Ames and Janet Blades; many grand and great grandchildren; siblings, Janice Blades, John Blades, Kathy Landerville, Bob Blades, Terry Hatfield, Susan Cope, Barbara Blades and Daniel Blades; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Beverly Anderson and Charles Blades; and daughter-in-law, Jean Ames. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 4-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Hwy. A Mass of Christian burial will take place Thursday, April 9, 2015, 11:00am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 939 Charlotte Ave., Kalamazoo. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials in George's name may be made to a charity of your choice.
