ROWE, Mr. George H. Albuquerque, NM Formerly of Flint, South Haven and Portage, MI Passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at his home in Albuquerque, NM with his family by his side. George was born March 16, 1919, in Detroit MI, a son of Edward F. and Minnie Smith Rowe. He graduated from Flint Northern High School and attended Flint Junior College and Wayne State University. During World War II, George served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946 under General MacArthur in New Guinea, the Philippines and Japan. Mr. Rowe worked in the Engineering Department at General Motors in Flint and retired after 21 years and 8 months of service. After retiring he lived in Panama City, FL, South Haven, MI and Portage, MI, before moving to Albuquerque, NM in 2003. George and Eva spent their retirement years traveling. Long time members of Parkland Presbyterian Church in Flint, George and Eva remained active at St. Stephens United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. George was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Irene Rablee, Norma Drewyer and Winona Cromar; brother, Leo Rowe and in 1978, by a granddaughter, Sarah R. Sanborn. On April 14, 1941, he was united in marriage with the former Evaleen Bardwell, who survives. Also surviving are: 4 children and their spouses, Dr. Dale E. & Ellen Rowe of Kalamazoo, MI, Georgene M. & Alan Wright of Albuquerque, NM, Edward F. & Stephanie Rowe of Prairieville, LA, and Norine E. & James Montgomery of Portage, MI; 9 grandchildren, Dr. Bruce & Kendra Rowe, Derek & Emily Rowe, Dr. Kelly Rowe and her fiancé, Dr. Robert Yeung, Jenny &Trevor Hardy, Amiee Rowe, Laura & Timothy Hebert, Jacob Rowe, Haley Montgomery and Jennifer Montgomery; 4 great-grandchildren, Alexander, Isaac and Olivia Rowe and Caitlyn Hardy; 1 sister, Margaret Ketchum of Kalamazoo, MI; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather for visitation on Monday from 6-8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. where services will be held 11:00 Tuesday morning. with the Rev. Sandra Elfring of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Private interment in Fort Custer National Cemetery will be held later.
