Genevieve M. Alford

Genevieve M. Alford went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 30, 2007. She was born December 1, 1923 in Canby, Oregon to the late Bernard J. and Emma C. Benson Berg. She was their only child. Genevieve received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Secretarial Science from Oregon State College in 1945. She attended a USO dance in 1944 in Oregon where she met her future husband Elton C. Alford of Kalamazoo, Michigan. They were united in marriage on December 26, 1946. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1995. Some of her favorite pastimes were playing bridge and reading. For the past twelve years, she lived in Carrollton, Texas to be near her children. Surviving Genevieve are her children, Kenneth and his wife Janine Alford of Georgetown, Texas, Jeanne and her husband Richard Witte of Carrollton, Texas and grandsons, Adam, Jason, and Nathan Witte. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Carrollton. Visitation will be Friday, July 6th, from 1 ? 2:00PM, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., Portage. Funeral Services will take place at 2:00PM, immediately following the visitation period. Rev. Mike Kemper will officiate.
