Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at his home. Gene was born May 27, 1929 in Kalamazoo, to the late Roy and Flossie Leary Vandenberg. He married Nancy Stafford-Terburg in July of 1978, in Kalamazoo who survives him. He is also survived by his children, Cathleen Terry Herr, Rebecca Michael Herington, Gene M. Vandenberg II, Brenda Jim Terburg-Fawley, Thomas Diane Terburg and Sonya Terburg; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Ilah Bowen; sister-in-law, Delores Tody Vandenberg; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were, 1st spouse, Marilyn Vandenberg; sons, Gary and Paul Terburg; 2 grandchildren; 2 brothers; and 1 sister. Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was an active member of the Kalamazoo Covenant Church and lifetime member of the NRA. Visitation will be Thursday the 15th from 6-8:00PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Hwy, Comstock. Services will be held on Friday, the 16th at 11:00AM at the Kalamazoo Covenant Church, 5708 E. Main St., Kalamazoo, Rev John Kepler, officiating.
