Gary Lewis Britten

Gary Lewis Britten passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019 at his home. He was born October 12, 1950 in Kalamazoo, MI and was preceded in death by his father and mother, Earl and Delores (Draft) Britten, Jr. He was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo.

Early on in his life his grandfather, Earl Sr., taught him everything he knew about cars, from building one from the ground up to racing. This fueled his passion for muscle cars, especially his '79 Camaro Z28. He spent his summers participating in car shows around Michigan and neighboring states; in which he won many awards for his cars.

Gary enjoyed vacationing in Branson, Missouri with his wife and always made sure to attend his favorite performers The Haygoods.

On May 29th, 1971 Gary married Wendy (VanderWeele), and enjoyed 48 years together. Also surviving are a daughter, Penny (Joe) Hargroves; sisters, Karen (Bob) Pelfresne and Kathlene (Angelo) Kuykindoll. Cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled per Gary's wishes.
