ISENHOWER, Garland L.
of Portage On September 27, Garland Lloyd Ike Isenhower peacefully passed away at home with his son Brett's family at his side. Garland was born in Richmond, Indiana and graduated from Richmond High School. There he met his wife Vivian, the love of his life. They have remained close to their friends from Richmond. In Korea, he served his country in the Army. After graduating from Indiana University, he was employed by Bendix Corporation in South Bend, Indiana and later moved to Portage, Michigan to join Shakespeare Corporation. His greatest devotion was to his family and later to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also dedicated to his church, he served as president of the building committee for First Christian Church in South Bend and has been an active member Portage United Church of Christ. Garland was an avid and gifted golfer. Surviving him are his son and daughter in law, Brett and Sheryl Isenhower and his daughter and son in law, Amy and Jim Pearce. Other survivors include grandchildren Emily Pearce, Nicholas Pearce, and Brittany Pena, Brittany's husband Jake Pena and great grandchildren Jacob and Silus Pena. A memorial service will be held at Portage United Church of Christ in Portage, Michigan at 3:00 pm on the first of October. Donations may be made to the Arcadia Developmental Center/Angel Fund, 303 Franklin, Arcadia, Indiana, 46030.
