PIPER, Gale A.
Climax, Michigan Passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008. Gale was born September 5, 1925 in Climax Township, the son of Harland and Lula Tyler Piper and was a lifelong resident of Climax. He served his country during WW II in the United States Army and worked for the Grand Trunk Railroad for 35 years as a welder. He was also a farmer at the same time. He enjoyed all sports from the Detroit teams as well as bowling, gardening, his farm and watching all the birds at his feeders. He especially loved his great granddaughter, Rebecca. On November 3, 1951, he married Beatrice Spooner, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Pam Ron Bushouse of Climax; grandchildren, Michelle James Willis of Vicksburg, William Angela Bushouse of Battle Creek, Dorothea "Dody" Bushouse of Climax; great grandchildren, Rebecca Willis of Vicksburg and Tyler Woodward of Battle Creek; sisters, Harriett Soule of Scotts, Ione Henry Coburn of Kalamazoo and Marilyn Philip Oswalt of Fulton; brothers, Garth Marjorie Piper of Galesburg, George Piper of Scotts and Gerald Judy Piper of South Carolina; many, many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Lilly. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 12:00 Noon at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 E. Maple St. Interment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
