Of Kalamazoo, Michigan Lucille passed away Wednesday morning, August 4, 2010 in Kalamazoo. She was born February 2, 1922 in Decatur, MI, the daughter of Jessie and Ruth Zoe Munger Labadie. Preceding her in death were her husband of 53 years, Edward G. Hallam and grandson, Mark E. Haring. Surviving are one daughter, Constance Eugene Rife; four grandchildren Greg S. Angie Lyco, Joyce A. Stinson, Mickey Janet Hall and Jamie Angel Haring; and twelve great-grandchildren. Lucille retired in 1975 from Michigan Bell Telephone Company and since has valued her time as a volunteer for the AT&T Pioneers, the Literacy Council, Westminster Church Charter Member since 1957 and various other organizations. She loved to spend time with family and friends, she enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards, walking her kitty Smudge and spirited political discussions. Post retirement, Lucille and Ed traveled extensively, boasting that they had visited each of the lower 48 States. However, a special place in their hearts was the Southwest Arizona and Nevada as well as fishing and camping trips to Minnesota. Memorial services for Lucille will be held on Saturday, September 11, at 11:00 am at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1515 Helen Street, Portage, MI. Cremation and a private family service have taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the West Michigan Cancer Center, Kairos Dwelling, the Wounded Warriors Project, or a charity of your choice.
