Kalamazoo Passed away Friday, April 9, 2010 in Kalamazoo. He was born June 11, 1923 in Otsego, the son of Lund and Francina Nelson Wester and had lived in the Kalamazoo area for many years. Fred proudly served his country during WW II in the Army Air Corps as a ground maintenance crew chief. He was a life member of VFW Post 6252, Comstock. During his work career, Fred was employed as a die maker for the paper making industry in the Kalamazoo area, retiring after 38 years. On October 12, 1946, he married Dorothy Dokey, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Gary Karen Wester of Normal, IL, Susan Jack Shipe of Galesburg and Mark Liz Wester of Portage; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; two nephews and one niece. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., where the family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Kairos Dwelling.
