PERTON, Frederick H. Kalamazoo Mr. Perton passed away Saturday morning, February 24, 2007 at Alamo Nursing Home. He was born May 27, 1918, the only child of Harry and Sinnie Meulman Perton. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. Fred worked with his family and later owned and operated Perton & Son Grocery for 30 years until its closing in 1963 and at Family Food Inc. for 18 years until his retirement in 1982. Mr. Perton was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church; and in his spare time enjoyed fishing, golfing, and traveling. On May 27, 1941, he was united in marriage to Dorothy DeVries in Kalamazoo, who preceded him in death on August 8, 2005. Surviving are children, Susan Adrian Vroegop of Plainwell, Dennis Perton of Kalamazoo, and Michael Brenda Perton of Grand Haven; 6 grandchildren, Cindy Gary Wendlowski of White Cloud, David Ramona Vroegop of Holland, Dan Jennifer Vroegop of Delaware, OH, Nathan Gail Perton of Holland, Jason fiancée Emily Boes Perton of Holland and Courtney fiancée Lee Scholten of Grand Haven; and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorial services for Mr. Perton will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Second Christian Reformed Church, 3015 Nichols Road, with Rev. Dr. Warren E. Lammers officiating. Private interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Second Christian Reformed Church ? Benevolence Fund or Ministries of the Christian Reformed Conference Grounds.
