Frederick J. Hodgemire

HODGEMIRE, Frederick J. ?Fritz? Comstock Fritz passed away Monday afternoon, August 27, 2007 at Borgess Medical Center. He was born April 1, 1941 in Kalamazoo, the son of the late Frederick A. and Dorothy A. Thorpe Hodgemire. Fritz graduated from Comstock High School in 1959. On September 30, 1961, he was united in marriage to Maxine Burns in Kalamazoo. Fritz was employed by Allen Testproducts now SPX until his retirement in 1992. He was a gifted pianist who played professionally and often at Freedom Baptist Church in Mendon, where he was a member. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Maxine; their five children, John Hodgemire of Kalamazoo, Shellie Dave Bowman of Kalamazoo, Tonya Hodgemire of Kalamazoo, Shane Jamie Hodgemire of Gobles, and Shawn Hodgemire of Kalamazoo; 8 grandchildren; one sister, Marlyn Byron of St. Louis, Michigan; brother-in-law, Larry Carol Burns of Oscoda; sister-in-law, Julie Steve Carroll of Mendon; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding him in death are his parents; and one sister, LaVonda Jones. Funeral services for Fritz will be at 11:00 AM on Friday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway, with Pastor Carl Price officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Comstock. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
