Climax, MI Freda died April 24, 2010 in Batesville, Arkansas. She was born on May 6, 1916 in Battle Creek. Michigan to Fred Morris and Bernice Elizabeth York Roof. She graduated from Climax High School and Calhoun County Normal. She taught one-room county school for three years. Freda married her husband Cedric Jenner on December 6, 1936. She was a secretary for Standard Oil Company for 23 years. Freda was a member of the Fulton Christian Church. She was also a lifetime member and past Matron of the Royal Maple Leaf #291 in the Climax Order of the Eastern Star and Bedford chapter. She was a den mother and a 4-H leather craft leader. She was also a volunteer with music at nursing homes, the veterans association, church and the Eastern Star. With her husband Cedric, she played dances and receptions. She loved to play cards with her friends and had fun collecting Furby' s and Disney items. She had a special gift of hospitality and enjoyed the company of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Fern Roof: one son. Jerry Jenner; and one sister, Marian Roof. Freda leaves behind a daughter, Janet and husband Jimmy Gray; one daughter-in-law, Marcia Jenner; two sisters, Theta and husband William Taylor, and Peg and husband Lawrence Jenkins; one brother, Fred Roof Jr.; six grandchildren, Robin Krause of Ohio, Julie and husband John Gridley of Ohio, Joanna and husband Eric Scott of Florida, Jerry Jr. and wife Mary Jenner of Ohio, Philip Gray of Florida, and Kimberly and husband Benji Emery of Arkansas; Thirteen great-grandchildren, Brandon, Paige and Douglas Reuth, Kaitlyn Scott, Jodi Krause, Alona, Morgan, Loriona and Carson Jenner, and Christopher, Nicholas, Michael and Stephen Gridley ; two great-great-grandchildren, McKensie and Halie Gridley; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her cherished friend and a special neighbor, Leon Piper. And Cheri and Fred Viers, Jr. whom she dearly loved as though her own daughter and son in her heart. Visitation will be held from 1-2pm on Saturday, May 1, 2010, with funeral services beginning at 2pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 E. Maple St. Interment in Prairie Home Cemetery will follow services. Pallbearers are Jerry Jenner Jr., Philip Gray, Fred Viers, Jr., Leon Piper, Roger Jenkins, and Lawrence Jenkins, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Fred Jenner, Glen Jenner, Ron Jenner, Ted Betz, Jim Gray, Lawrence Jenkins Sr., Melvin Jenner, William Taylor.
