Gobles Passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012. Fred was born April 24, 1932 in Lawrence, MI a son of LeRoy and Barbara Moravetz Boothby and was a lifelong resident of the Gobles area. On November 1, 1953, he married Eloise Gerard, who survives. He was a farmer for 20 years and while farming, he worked at the Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital for 18 years. Following these occupations, he became the owner and operator of the Birch Manor Nursing Home, also serving as the Administrator. They were both lifelong members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, attending Kalamazoo SDA Church for the past 30 years. Fred is survived by their children, Carla Boothby of Gobles, Fred D. Sandra Boothby of Gobles, Ron Janelle Boothby of Gobles and Lon Jody Boothby of Moscow, ID; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Kramer of Ooltewah, TN, and Ruth Forrest of Kalamazoo; a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edward and Gordon. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 3:30 PM in the Kalamazoo Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1601 Nichols Road, with Pastor Daniel Ferraz officiating. A private family committal service will be held later. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Friday, December 14, 2012 from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kalamazoo SDA Church.
