Frank Zwart

Frank Zwart, age 90 of Kalamazoo, died on April 28, 2024. He was born on June 26, 1933, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Ralph and Frances (Draayer) Zwart. Frank was a 1950 graduate of Kalamazoo Christian High School and has been a lifelong supporter of the Kalamazoo Christian Schools. He was a builder by trade. Frank was a devoted member of the Milwood Christian Reformed Church. Frank’s greatest passion was flying and building experimental RV airplanes. He also donated his time flying with the local EAA Young Eagles program.

Frank was married to Catherine DeLoof for 52 years and they were blessed with four daughters.  

Frank was married to Joyce Johnson Berghuis for 12 years. 

He is survived by two daughters: Nancy (Ralph) Balkema, Judith Forde; step-children: Rick (Bonnie) Berghuis and Kevin (Michelle) Berghuis; his grandchildren: Joel (Amber) Balkema, Lynn (John) Buchkowski, Jordan Balkema, Jessalynn Forde, Aleisha Forde, Marissa Forde, Abbey Guy, Wendy Penning, Jason (Jill) Berghuis, Katie (Kristy) Mallette, Taylor (Sarah) Berghuis, Joshua (Elizabeth) Berghuis, and Rachel Berghuis; his great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Jade, Austin, Skyler, Logan, Ryder, Phoenyx, Josie, Gabe, Israel, Jaiden, Kaleb, Khaleil, Landon, Tessa; his brother, Gordon (Dona) Zwart, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters: Brenda and Mary Beth; his wife, Catherine (2003), and his wife, Joyce (2018); his sisters, Agnes (Zwart) Madden and Berdina Zwart, and brothers: Ralph, Peter, Sydney, and Bernard Zwart. 

Friends may visit with his family on Sunday, May 5th, 2024, from 3:00-5:00 PM, at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Location, 3926 S. 9^th Street, Kalamazoo, where his funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 6^th, with his grandson, Pastor Taylor Berghuis, officiating. A private interment will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
