Frank Arthur Hacht

February 5, 1947 — April 28, 2024

Frank Arthur Hacht, age 77, of Portage, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly at home on April 28, 2024.

Frank Arthur Hacht, born on February 5, 1947, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, was a man of unparalleled dedication. His unwavering commitment to his craft, which was evident from a young age, led him to pursue his passion at a trade school to become a Journeyman Tool and Die after high school. He started his career on 08/21/72 and devoted an impressive 46 years of his life to Humphrey Products, retiring on 05/31/18, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication that serves as an inspiration to us all.

Frank was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Schoolcraft and the Union for Tool and Die. He found joy in simple pleasures like fishing and hunting with his brother, running his train set throughout a homemade village in the mountains that was built in one of the bedrooms and later moved to the back room, playing- mille bourne, yahtzee, stock market game, tonk, blackjack, poker, uno, and many other board games, watching movies from his massive collection of either vcr or DVD’s, camping, bowling tournaments with Humphrey, league bowling with his family, spending time with his family - especially his grandkids - Cheyanne, Sierra, and Zachary.  He loved his man cave and having people sit at the bar with him as the bartender, offering everyone “nips” of drinks.  His love for life was infectious, and he celebrated everyday moments with family and friends. Frank's talent as a carpenter was a testament to his creativity and generosity, as he was always available for extra emblements, such as creating various pieces of furniture and designing blueprints.  His love for guns and bullets led him to his own company, Ski Bullet, where he created paperweights and key chains made of bullets. Over the years, Frank has had close to 20 dogs and enjoyed walking them on their land in Lawton and playing ball with them, a testament to his love for animals and his capacity for care. He loved carrying on the Italian tradition of his mom in making fried spaghetti and fried cookies.

Frank's life was enriched by the deep love and companionship of his beloved spouse, Jean Ellen (Falk) Hacht. Their relationship, spanning a remarkable 57 years of marriage, was a beacon of inspiration, a testament to the power of love and commitment.

Frank is survived by his wife, Jean; his niece, Susan (Jarrett Jones) Dooley and her children Cheyanne Dooley, Sierra Dooley, and Zachary Dooley; nephew, Scott (Robin) Rarick; his sister, Elsie (Howie) Ketchum, and brother, John (Nancy) Hacht, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Frank Hacht, his mother, Michelina Fortunata Hacht, and his brother, Eugene Hacht.
