Kalamazoo, Michigan Mrs. Skelding passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 18, 2008 at Borgess Medical Center. She was born July 9, 1921 in Centralia, IL, one of four children to August and Magdalene Buettner Aldag. Frances was employed by The Upjohn Co. for over 10 years until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, enjoyed shopping, traveling and spending time with her family. In 1944, she was united in marriage to Donald Skelding, who preceded her in death on August 29, 1985. Also preceding her in death were her parents; 1 brother, Robert Aldag; and 1 sister, Edna. Surviving are 2 sons, Jim Skelding of Kalamazoo, and Tom Skelding of Ishpeming; 1 daughter, Peg Skelding of Kalamazoo; and 1 sister, Bernice of St. Louis, MO. Funeral services for Mrs. Skelding will be at 10:30 AM on Monday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, with Pastor Louis Grother officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2-5 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Kalamazoo Humane Society.
