Of Portage Passed away Thursday morning, November 1, 2007. Fran was born September 24, 1920 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Daniel and Jennie Markusse Pikkaart. She was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School in 1938 and graduated Cum Laude from Western Michigan University in 1942 where she was presented with the award for being the Most Outstanding Woman of the 1942 graduating class. Fran spent 35 years teaching in several school districts in Michigan with the last 15 years being at Portage Central Middle School. She was also a longtime member of the Kalamazoo Lady Elks BPOE #50. On June 16, 1945 she was united in marriage to Louie J. Moon who preceded her in death on September 26, 1985. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Fred, Donald, and Hubert Pikkaart. Surviving are 3 daughters, Susan Knapp of Sarasota, FL, Kathryn John Jozo of Hamilton, MI, Patricia Kenneth Millard of Traverse City, MI; 6 grandchildren, David, Deborah, Derek, Alex, Mike, Tamara; 5 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, McKenna Cora, Brady and Dalson; sisters-in-law, Jennie Pikkaart and June Godden; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 10:00 o?clock Monday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick with Rev. Jim Dyke officiating. Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at 2:00. Friends may meet the family Sunday afternoon from 2-4pm at the chapel.
