Floyd N. ''Nick'' Brodie

BRODIE, Floyd N. ?Nick? Of Portage Passed away Tuesday February 6, 2007. Nick was born July 28, 1928 in Kalamazoo, the son of Archie and Alice Engal Brodie and has been a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of Delton Rural Agricultural School in 1946 and purchased his first milk route in 1952. For over 40 years he worked for the Michigan Milk Producers Association hauling bulk milk from farmers to dairies, retiring in 1995. He was a former member of the Moose and Elk?s Lodges. The most important part of Nick?s life was his family and especially spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On November 5, 1948, he was united in marriage to the former Helen Marie Channells who survives. Also surviving are his four children, Janice Jeff Flegal, Alan Betty Brodie, Lynda Kerry DePoy and Laryn Brodie; grandchildren, Haley Scott Dare, Tricia Fabien Sarrazin, Todd Lisa Brodie, Julie Mark Dorland, Shara Dennis Hammond; great-grandchildren, Evan and Aron Dare, Olivia, Nolan and William Brodie and Maya Dorland; a brother, Robert Mary Brodie; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Evelyn Green. In accordance with Nick?s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced. Memorials in Nick?s memory may be directed to the American Heart Association.
