Florence Marie Kaylor

Florence Marie (Garbacik) Kaylor of Portage, Michigan, died on January 29, 2024, at the age of 86. Florence was born in Detroit, Michigan, on February 15, 1937, to the late John and Helen (Mach) Garbacik. She graduated from Cody High school in 1955. On October 5, 1963, Florence married Harrison Ed Kaylor at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Detroit, Michigan. The two would go onto spend 23 years together until his passing in 1986.

Florence was a loving mother to her daughter, Michelle and her son, Scott, and proud grandmother to Ryan and Amanda. She was a beloved sister, cousin, aunt, and friend. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. She loved making puzzles and going to the casino. She was a sports fanatic – and especially loved the Detroit Tigers. But, her greatest love was her family. 

Florence is survived by her children, Michelle (Richard) Shinevare and Scott (Kathy) Kaylor; grandchildren, Ryan (Carly) Shinevare and Amanda (Trenton) Kulczyk; sisters, Marlene (Donald) Suszko and Audrey Miotke; and brother, John (Connie) Garbacik. 

Florence was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry; her parents, Helen and John; her niece, Colleen Marie Garbacik, and her brother-in-law, David Miotke. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1pm on Friday, February 2 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 West Centre Ave, Portage. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the Mass.
