of Portage, Michigan Passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the age of 86. She was born in New Hamburg, Ontario, Canada on July 9, 1927, the daughter of the late Clarence and Edna Jacky Roth. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the prayer shawl group. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi community service sorority. Florence loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed preparing a dinner any time there was a family gathering. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, golfing, bowling and traveling. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Gene W. Karn; two daughters, Susan Rich Raschke of Kalamazoo and Sharon Dave Namenye of Davison, MI; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Karn; seven grandchildren, Erin Derek Geschwendt of Portage, Elizabeth Raschke of New York, Kristin Paul Cannon of Boston, MA, Kimberly Tim Miller of Quincy, MI, Katie Namenye of Davison, James Karn of Portage and Daniel Karn of Portage; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Joanne Roth of New Hamburg, Ontario, Canada; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Karn. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2013 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1747 W. Milham Avenue, with Pastor Bob Hannemann officiating. Cremation will follow after the funeral service. Memorials may be given to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
