FENSTERMAKER, Mrs. Florence "Flo"
Crooked Lake, Texas Corners Passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2009, in Kalamazoo, MI. Flo was born November 2, 1920 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the only child of Mack and Grace Dykstra Ferwerda. She was a life long Kalamazoo area resident, graduating from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1938. She was united in marriage with Lee Fenstermaker on March 21, 1942. They happily enjoyed 40 years of marriage before his death on October 26, 1982. Flo enjoyed a long career as Secretary to the Elementary Principal at the Mattawan Consolidated Schools before retiring in June, 1981. After her husband's death, she returned to volunteer in the Mattawan Early Elementary Media Center from August of 1991 until June of 2006. Flo was an active member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel. Flo also worked on the Texas Township election board for many years. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was an avid reader, loved traveling to new places and had many happy trips to Hawaii and several of the islands in the Caribbean. Flo was a long-time active member of Calvary Reformed Church Texas Corners where she served as both a deacon and an elder.
She is survived by: her daughter, Susan John Geiman of Loveland, CO; her son, Mack Robin Fenstermaker of Paw Paw; four grandchildren, Michelle Aaron Hayes of Warrenville, IL, Matthew Geiman of Corpus Christi, TX, Jamie and Shane Fenstermaker of Paw Paw, MI; 3 great-grandsons of Warrenville, IL; a cousin, Al Dykstra; 3 sisters-in-law; 2 brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. The family will meet friends on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Langland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. Funeral services will be held 11:00 Friday morning at Calvary Reformed Church, 7829 S. 5th Street, Mattawan with Pastor Greg Van Heukelom officiating. Those wishing to make a lasting gift in Flo's
