Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away March 5, 2008 at Borgess Hospital. Evelyn was born August 15, 1926 in White Cloud, MI, the daughter of Claude and Margery Ringler. Prior to her retirement, she worked in retail at Montgomery Wards, Jo-Ann's Fabrics and Shaw's Jewelers along with keeping the books at her husband Whitey's Union 76 Service Station on West Main St. Evelyn served as a volunteer at the Portage Community Outreach Center and enjoyed traveling especially on the Senior Bus Tours. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Armand "Whitey" Stowell in 1992. Surviving are 2 sons and 1 daughter, Richard Maureen Stowell of Ormond Beach, FL, Judy Michael Rauch of Kalamazoo and David Dana Stowell of Plainwell; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday at the Westwood Church of God, 811 Gorham Ln. with the Rev. Jerry D. Lewis officiating. As an expression of sympathy, contributions in Evelyn's memory may be made to the Portage Community Outreach Center, 325 E. Centre Ave., Portage, MI 49002.
