Vicksburg Evelyn passed away Tuesday morning, June 10, 2008, at Borgess Medical Center. She was born February 23, 1926 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of the late Herman and Marie Hecht Lange. Evelyn loved flowers and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and canning, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. On January 15, 1946, she was united in marriage to Charles A. Schippers, who preceded her in death on May 30, 1992. Also preceding her in death were 1 sister, Margaret Seegert; and 1 brother, Harold Lange. Surviving are 7 children, Jerry Schippers of Kalamazoo, Jim Barbara Schippers of Vicksburg, Chuck Cheryl Schippers of Castilian Springs, TN, Ken Cindy Schippers of Vicksburg, Kathy Don VanDerVelde of Grand Rapids, Randy Colleen Schippers of Vicksburg, and Linda Barker of Vicksburg; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Joanie Allen Edwards of Hueytown, AL; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Evelyn will be at 11:00 AM on Friday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue, with Rev. James Dyke officiating. Interment will follow in Vicksburg Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Make-A-Wish Foundation or a charity of one's choice.
