OSTERLUND, Evelyn M.
Kalamazoo, MI Died Saturday evening July 4, 2009. Evelyn was born September 22, 1926 in East Prairie, Missouri, the daughter of the late Albert and Vitrue Crosier Howlett. Upon Albert's passing when Evelyn was 4 years old, she became step-daughter of Walter Stephan, who has preceded her in death. On June 19, 1948, she was united in marriage to Stanley Osterlund who preceded her in death in February of 2007. Evelyn loved learning and exploring new ideas. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the arts. Her children fondly remember family trips to museums, lectures and concerts. Evelyn possessed a keen sense of fun and adventure, once surprising her family when she bought a Chevy convertible. It was more to their dismay when she experimented with health food. Evelyn leaves her children with many happy memories. Surviving, 2 children, Sheryl Steve Drenth of Dowling, MI and Steven Char Osterlund of Springfield, VT; 2 grandchildren, Jesse Veronica Pero and Joel Megan Pero; 2 great-grandchildren, Olivia and Preston Pero; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11:30AM Wednesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., Rev. James Dyke, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
