DUNLAP, Evelyn Lois
Of Galesburg, MI Went to be with her Lord on February 12, 2009. She died at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born September 16, 1924 in Kalamazoo, daughter of the late Marion and Gladys Ransler Sparks. She married Kenneth Dunlap on September 13, 1946, who survives. Evelyn was a longtime member of the Kalamazoo Covenant Church where she sang in the choir and in a trio with her sister Mildred and friend June Fellows. For many years, she was employed as administrative secretary to the Comstock Schools business manager and developed a long lasting friendship with Beverly Dantone as well as many others. After retiring from the Comstock Schools, she helped many families as hostess at the Switzer Funeral Homes, both the Galesburg and the Comstock chapels. She enjoyed traveling and is remembered for her love of her rose garden and flowers. Also surviving Evelyn are her children, Ronald Eleanor Dunlap of Dumfries, VA, Becky Carlson of Grand Haven, Robin Randall Niedz of Vero Beach, FL; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer, Mike Kim, and Ryan; 3 great grand children; Alison, Jared and Katie: brother, Leon Alice Sparks; sister, Mildred Peterson; sister's in law, Gertrude Sparks and Patricia Sparks; several nieces and nephews. Also preceding Evelyn in death were her brothers Jack Kenneth and Delbert Sparks; sister, Arlene Kay; sister in law Jane Sparks Munson. Family will greet friends on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8:00 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway. Funeral services will take place, Tuesday, 11:00am from Kalamazoo Covenant Church, 5708 E. Main St., Rev. John Kepler, officiating. A private family committal will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, Galseburg. Memorials may be directed to Borgess Hospice and Visiting Nurses Association or to the church.
