DAILEY, Evelyn Marie
of Portage 88 Passed away December 3, 2010 at Tendercare of Portage. She was born March 6, 1922 in Kalamazoo, to the late George and Agnes La Coss Wellington, and married Forrest "Frosty" Dailey, May 23, 1941, who preceded her in death in 1985. Evelyn was a life-long member of the Order of the Eagles, and a weekly card club which she enjoyed for many years with family and friends. She was an avid crotchetier and the family benefited from her many handicraft items through the years. She looked forward to Saturday night dances at the Eagles with Frosty, and was active in bowling leagues in Michigan and Florida. She loved flowers and hummingbirds. Evelyn and her late husband, Frosty, wintered in Tampa, Florida for many years and traveled around the United States; later she traveled to Hawaii, Spain, Mexico and Bermuda. She will be missed by the "Friday night gang", who knew her as "Miss Evie". Surviving Evelyn are her children, Larry Carolyn Dailey of Kalamazoo and Darlene Paul Kuiper of Walhalla, MI; 8 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Edna Chapman and brother-in-law Melborne Jaquays; aunts, uncles and many nieces and nephews. Also preceding Evelyn in death were sister, Gertrude Jaquays; brother, Robert Wellington; brother-in-law, Hugh Chapman; and sister-in-law, Alice Wellington. Family will greet friends on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8:00 o'clock at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., where services will take place on Tuesday at 10:00 o'clock. Burial will follow at the Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery Chapel. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the Kalamazoo Heart Center.
