BURKE, Mrs. Evelyn W.
Plainwell, Michigan Died Sunday morning January 11, 2009. Evelyn was born November 23, 1918 in Lenawee, County, Michigan a daughter of Alfred and Hazel Martin Holt. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of her life and was employed as an Avon Representative for 35 years, before retiring. She was also a member of Oakwood Bible Church where she taught Sunday School and held CEF Bible Clubs in her home. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter E. Burke on June 20, 1999; a brother, Arthur "Verl" Holt; 2 grandsons, David and Michael Burke; and a great-grandson. She is survived by 6 children, Jack Judy Burke of Climax, Sandy John Burgess of Richland, David Sue Burke of Vicksburg, Jill Tom Elyea of Portage, Linda Burke of Kalamazoo, and Terry John Nelson of Plainwell; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Cloyd Ellen Holt of Portage; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 1 o'clock Thursday at the Oakwood Bible Church 4100 Oakland Drive. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.
