Galesburg, MI Died Wednesday morning April 27, 2011. Eva was born January 18, 1915 in Gowrie, Iowa a daughter of George and Dora Pardee Stewart. She moved back to Plainwell, Michigan after the death of her father and graduated from Plainwell High School. On June 24, 1937, she married Henry "Hank" L. Beertema who preceded her in death on December 18, 1995. Eva worked at the Shakespeare Company during WWII and later with the Woodruff and Bowen Insurance agencies for over 20 years before retiring. She was also a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and loved gardening; researching family genealogy; and writing letters to family and friends. Eva also traveled to Europe with her daughter in 2001. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and 7 brothers and sisters, Jesse, Lee, Albert, Clarence, Estel, Earl, and John. Eva is survived by 2 children, Sharon Harris-Baker of Kalamazoo and Jack JoAnne Beertema of Plainwell; 3 grandchildren, Angie Harris, Keri Beertema, and Joy Russcher; 2 great-grandchildren, Joshua and Brandi; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held 2-5pm Saturday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Graveside services will be held 1 o'clock Friday, May 6th in South Portage Cemetery.
