LEIBY, Mr. Eugene "Gene" J.
Portage, MI Passed away Wednesday morning August 24, 2011 after several years of declining health. Gene was born September 19, 1927 in Lansing Michigan a son of Lewis and Alma Nobach Leiby. Gene was a graduate of Lansing Eastern High School and a carpenter by trade. During WWII, he served his country in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his beloved friend and companion of 31 years, Elizabeth A. "Betty" Dodd on May 4, 2009. Gene and Betty spent their retirement winters at their residence in Florida enjoying family, friends, fishing and the game of golf which they loved. Gene is survived by a daughter, Gina Leiby; a son, Cary Leiby; a brother, Robert L. Ellen Leiby of Bath MI; a niece, Peggy Leiby; nephews, Jeffrey and Eric Leiby; and several Nobach and Leiby cousins. Graveside services will be held 10 o'clock Thursday in South Portage Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Michigan Heart Association or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
