SHEPPERD, Ethel L.
of Portage Passed away October 21, 2010 at Bronson Hospital with family and pastor by her side. She was born March 24, 1930 in Powell County, KY to the late George and Sara Townsend Townsend. Ethel was married to Lyle Shepperd, who preceded her in death on July 23, 1970. Surviving Ethel are her children, Lawrence Shepperd and Wendell Penny Jones Shepperd both of Portage; 4 grandchildren, Danny Frazier, Amy Ruch, Adam Shepperd and Malisa Shepperd; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Mandy Hensley, Barbara Warren Giles, Joyce Monte Rugg and Sandra Gary Schuler; and many nieces and nephews. Also preceding Ethel in death were; a son, Roy V. Frazier; sisters, Ida Mae McKenzie, Malinda Houghton and Elizabeth Hamilton; brothers, Andrew Townsend and Charlie Townsend. Family will greet friends on Monday morning from 10-12:00 at Centre Avenue Church of God, 1917 E. Centre Ave., Portage, where services will take place at 12:00 with Pastor Richard Hertsel, officiating. Burial will follow at South Portage Cemetery. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
