Kalamazoo, MI Died Friday morning June 4, 2010. Esther was born September 5, 1928 in Morley, Michigan a daughter of William and Florence Whipple Gardiner. She had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with National Water Lift for 32 years, retiring in 1988. Esther was also a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post #1527. For years, she loved spending time at the family cabin and fishing at Manistee. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry G. Stratton on March 4, 1985; 5 sisters; and 2 brothers. Esther is survived by 2 children, Helen Terry Deike and Mike Cindy Stratton both of Kalamazoo; 5 grandchildren, Heather, Michelle, Bill and his wife, Lauren, Christina and her husband, Mike, and Matt; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Delbert Wilcox of Morley, MI; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 1 o'clock Wednesday in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8pm Tuesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Memorials may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Society or the Lupus Foundation. www.langelands.com . 343-1508.
