BROOKS, Esther K.
Of Kalamazoo Passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Borgess Gardens. Esther was born January 12, 1922, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Laskowitz Block. During WW II, she was a member of the U.S. Army Women's Corps; and in later years had worked as a legal secretary with Adams, Burgie, Scott, Ritter & Dornbos, P.C. The most important part of Esther's life was her family, and they were a very close knit family throughout the years. Preceding Esther in death was her first husband, Keith Sullivan, her second husband, Paul R. Brooks, Sr., a sister, Katherine Block and three brothers, Bernie, Francis and Paul Block. Surviving are her children Linda Bob Kirby, Douglas Sullivan, Dan Sullivan, Tim Sullivan, Mark Deb Sullivan, Jayeson Nicols, Lance Sullivan; step-children, Paul Virginia Brooks, Colleen Ebey, Cathleen Reginald LaGrand; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Betty Block and Jim Block; sisters-in-law, Pat, Beverly and Sandy Block; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 PM Rosary at 4:00 PM Sunday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment with full military honors will be held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
