Palmer, Ernest
Kalamazoo, MI Passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013. Age 72. Ernest was born in Chicago, IL on July 22, 1941, the son of the late John and Hazel Rucker Palmer. He graduated from Windell Phillips High School in Chicago. He served with the United States Navy. He worked as an apprentice under his uncle, Robert. He also worked as a TV technician and hospital technician for many years. He later retired from National Water Lift in Kalamazoo after 20 plus years of service. He is survived by his daughter, Denise Cedric Palmer-Johnson of Newport News, VA; his son, Shannon Lockhart of Akron, OH; his step-daughter and step-son, Latoya Ronald Blue of Chicago and Shelby Davison of Chicago; his grandchildren, Veronica, Amber, Shonquita Melvin, Katoria, DeKristopher, Jazmyne and Ayden; his great-grandchildren, Samari and Samiah; his uncle, Leon Rucker; his aunt, Veonor Jerry Smith; many cousins; and his special friend, Carmella Whitehead of Kalamazoo. He was preceded in death by his life partner, LaFrances Davison; and his brother, John Palmer Jr.; and his grandchild, Daijahn. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St., where a time of sharing will take place at 3:00 p.m. V.F.W. Post #6252 will conduct military honors following the time of sharing.
