Portage Passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2008. Emma was born January 18, 1909 in Pittsburg, PA the daughter of Andrew and Anna Bittenbender. She was a member of North Park Reformed Church where she had participated in the Dorcas Band, Reformed Church Women, Senior Choir and Joy Group. She was employed at Probasco's Fabrics for several years and enjoyed volunteer work with the Kalamazoo Choral Society, Hope College Women's League, American Red Cross, City of Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo Public Schools and Portage Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry D. Waanders, whom she married on March 28, 1928; a son, Henry Edward; brothers, Edward, Nick, Harry and Frank Lauth; and a sister, Helen Cook. Surviving are two daughters, Lila of Portage, and Marilyn Robert Krol of De Witt, MI; grandchildren, Robert Angie Krol of Whitehall, Kathryn Adam Heinlein of Cambridge, WI and Frank Kristen Krol of De Witt; great grandchildren, Savannah Samuel Jezowski, Jacob Nikki Krol, and Eli Krol; Meredith, Emma, Forrest and Clayton Heinlein; Allen, William and Frank Krol; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Saturday at North Park Reformed Church, 1316 Barney Road, corner of Douglas Ave., with Pastor Paul Fazio officiating. A private family interment will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday beginning at 10:00AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to North Park Reformed Church. The family would like to thank the staff of Borgess Nursing Home for their loving care of Emma.
