Passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2015. Age 91. Lou was born in Bloomfield Twp., MI on July 16, 1924, the daughter of the late Bryan and Ida (Beukema) Beebe. She attended Johns Hopkins Nursing School. She worked for Aetna Life in Grand Rapids and Arizona, retiring after sixteen years of service. Lou was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, serving as the Department President in Arizona and several committees on the National Level. Her hobbies included sewing, reading and bowling. She was married to Nathan Fairchild, who preceded her on June 26, 2000. She was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Army Spc. Eric T. Burri and Bryon J. Burri. She is survived by four daughters, Virginia L. Wallgren of Crystal, Susan V. (Carl) Moore of Kalamazoo, Joanne (John) Burri of Grand Rapids and Rebecca (Jeff) Winkle of Portage; five grandchildren, Heather L. Garcia of Portage, Kelli (Mac) Jones of Paw Paw, Andrew (Michelle) Burri of Wyoming, Kris (Christy) Winkle of Portage; six great-grandchildren, Alex J. and Megan M. Garcia of Portage, Steven Jones of Paw Paw, Lucas E., Keagan W. and Alexander N. (Zander) Burri of Wyoming; one sister, Betty Jo (John) Lewis of Traverse City; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 3rd at Portage United Church of Christ, 2731 W. Milham Ave., Portage, MI 49024. Friends may visit with the family from 3 p.m. until time of the service. Pastor Dave Moffett-Moore will officiate. Private interment will take place in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Legion Auxiliary, 4701 N. 19th Ave., Suite 100, Phoenix, AZ 85015 - please designate donations to the Children and Welfare Fund. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel.
