OVERHOLT, Elsie F.
of Kalamazoo Died April 21, 2010 at Upjohn Community Care Center. She was born February 6, 1922 in Berwyn, IL to the late Adolf and Rose Drozd Prosecky. Elsie was united in marriage in November of 1942 to Gerald Overholt, who preceded her in death in June of 1978. Elsie was a loving and devoted wife, mother and "Babi" as well as a wonderful homemaker. She took great pride in her children and her grandchildren. Her grandchildren were a constant source of her joy. As an Avon lady for years, she made many long-lasting friends. Elsie loved to keep in touch, whether by telephone or letter. Relatives and friends were constantly reminded of her love for family and friends, her passion for life, and her faith in God. She was also an avid collector of cookbooks, which she loved to share with her children. Late in life, she found a love for butterflies. Surviving Elsie are her children, William Linda Overholt of Ohio, Susan Tom Hill of Portage, Fred Marilyn Overholt of Portage and Jenny Steve Whipple of California; 7 grandchildren, Jillisa and Zach Overholt, Shannon Hill, Melanie Quentin Witkowski, Jacob VerMeulen, and Sam and Joey Whipple; sister, Emily Ray Madura; sisters-in-law, Pat Art Windmiller and Iona Lauver; and several nieces and nephews. Also preceding Elsie in death was her brother, Rudy Prosecky. A Memorial Service will take place Saturday, 3:00 o'clock, at Portage United Church of Christ, 2731 W. Milham Ave., Portage, MI 49024, Rev. Scott Oberle, officiating. A gathering will follow the service, at the church. Arrangements by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Burial will take place at a later date in Central Portage Cemetery. Memorials in Elsie's name may be directed to the church or to Upjohn Community Care Center.
