Elmer C Sanborn

SANBORN, Mr. Elmer C. Portage, MI Died Monday morning May 7, 2007. Elmer was born March 5, 1918 in Bellows Falls, Vermont son of Elmer and Edyth Barber Sanborn. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Army. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1959 and was employed with the Upjohn Company for 32 years, retiring in 1991. He was Journal Editor for the Sanborn Family Association from spring 1991 through April 1994. He published ?A Collection of Sanborn Family Genealogies? in 1994 and was an Information Specialist for the Family History Center, LDS Church for several years. He was also a member of the Kalamazoo Valley Genealogy Society. He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant son. On July 10, 1943, he was united in marriage to Nada M. Myers Sanborn who survives. Also surviving, a daughter and her life partner, Karen Audrey Wierenga Sanborn of Portage; a son, Timothy Becky Sanborn of Winfield, MO; 3 grandchildren; 1 ½ great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Cerone of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 7 o?clock Thursday evening from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Visitation will be 5-7pm Thursday at the chapel. Private burial will take place in South Portage Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Family History Center, LDS Church or the charity of your choice.
