Elmer C. Hellwig

HELLWIG, Mr. Elmer C. Kalamazoo, MI Died Monday afternoon August 20, 2007 at his residence. Elmer was born July 10, 1919 in Des Plaines, Illinois a son of Christian and Frieda Noldte Hellwig. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Army. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident for 10 years, coming from Decatur, MI. He was employed with Checker Motors for 12 years before retiring. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie Hellwig on December 28, 2003; 2 brothers, Albert and Otto Hellwig; and a sister, Anna Hellwig. He is survived by 6 children, Thomas Mary Miller of Arizona, Douglas Mary Miller of Indiana, Christine Raffael Miller-Pamales of Virginia, Robin Violet Miller of Oregon, Tina Miller of Comstock, and David Miller of Virginia; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and 2 nieces, Nancy Hellwig and Ruth Hann both of Illinois. Services will be held 10:30 Monday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8pm Saturday. Interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Greater Kalamazoo.
