Elma Elizabeth Longman

LONGMAN, Elma Elizabeth, age 97, of Battle Creek, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Life Care Center of Plainwell. She was born April 23, 1914 in Vandalia, MI, the daughter of Paul and Elizabeth Allinson East. Elma was a 1932 graduate of Scotts High School and spent most of her life living in Battle Creek. In 1934, she was united in marriage to Leo "Pete" Longman, who preceded her in death in 1969. Also preceding her in death were her parents; infant daughter, Sue Lyn Longman; and son-in-law, Steve Popovich. Surviving are her three children, Willa Jean Popovich of Kalamazoo, Dawn Lester Putney of Allegan and Daryl Longman of Kalamazoo; granddaughter, Deidre Popovich of Atlanta, GA; sister, Lillian Marie Jenkins of Scotts; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Elma will be at 1:00 PM on Monday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 E. Maple Street, with her son-in-law, Pastor Lester R. Putney, officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery, Climax. Friends may visit with the family from 11 AM - 1 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
