JAGER, Ellen "Nell"
Kalamazoo Went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 1, 2010. Ellen was born June 18, 1913 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Harm and Clarissa Brown Kuiper and was a longtime resident of the Kalamazoo area. During her working years, Ellen was employed by KVP Paper Company for 10 years, retiring in 1961. She had been a member of Third Reformed Church for many years, and in 1974 she became a member of Grace Christian Reformed Church. Ellen and her husband, Alko, Sr. enjoyed wintering in Florida for many seasons. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Alko Jager, Sr. whom she married on June 21, 1932 and they had celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Clarissa Kloosterman; a grandson, Kenneth Kloosterman; two great-grandsons; five brothers and two sisters. Surviving are her children, Henry Shirley Jager of Kalamazoo, Alko Patrillia Jager, Jr. of Portage and Frances V. David Alkema of Jenison; 12 grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM Tuesday at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 1724 Whites Rd. where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday with Rev. Greg Timmer, Rev. Dr. Harry Arnold and Rev. Suzanne Kornowski officiating. A private burial will take place in Grand Prairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Park Village Pines or Grace Christian Reformed Church.
