Martin Ellen died January 26, 2008, at Crystal Woods Alzheimer's Care Facility of Kalamazoo, MI. She was born May 14, 1909, in Valley Farms, MI, North of Lansing a daughter of George H. and Ellen Hayes Leavens. She graduated from Lansing High School in 1927. On January 25, 1930, Ellen married Clare R. Colvin in Lansing, and they later owned the Ford dealership in East Lansing. Following WW II, Clare and Ellen purchased the Ford dealership in Allegan and moved to Martin. Ellen was active in the Pipp Hospital Guild, Martin Library, Martin Ladies Social Club and the Kitchen Band. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband in 1976, and by her sister, Roberta Bunce, in 2006. Ellen is survived by: a son, David Bonnie Colvin of Kalamazoo; two grandsons, Philip Cindie Colvin of Walled Lake and Garth Marissa Colvin of East Lansing; six great-grandchildren, Sophia, Avery, Brenden, Jackson, Wilson and Everly; a brother, Robert PatLeavens; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Ellen will be held 12:00 noon Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., with the Rev. Theda McBride, officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Private interment in East Martin Cemetery will be held later. Memorials should be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, Crystal Woods or to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
